About the Team Principal - James Russell

 

James started karting in early 2001, winning multiple races and  championships as a teenager. He moved on to single seaters, saloon cars and rallying up until 2010 when a lack of funds caused him to stop. But racing is in his blood, hence the birth of Stratos Motorsports in 2010. During his racing years, and since, he has worked with many teams involved in Rallying, Formula Cars, Circuit Cars, Simulator Racing and Karting.

The Stratos team has a cooperative atmosphere where all our drivers and team personnel work together to achieve a common goal. You don’t have to take our word for it – come and see for yourself! Meet Our Coaches

James Russell started karting in early 2001, winning multiple races and a championship in 2003. He moved on to single seaters, saloon cars and rallying up until 2010 when he started Stratos. During his racing years, and since, he has worked with many teams involved in Rallying, Formula Cars, Circuit Cars, Simulator Racing and Karting.

Daniel Woodroof is an accomplished Malaysian race car and kart driver. He started in karting where he took numerous wins together with Stratos Motorsports in the Rotax Max Challenge and Asian Kart Open Championship. In 2013 he raced in the Meritus Asia Cup in Formula BMW single-seaters taking many wins, coming 3rd in the final championship standings, and first in the Malaysian championship.

Timothy Yeo is an experienced Malaysian racing driver who started driving at the age of 6 and has competed in karting, GT cars, drifting and single seater races all over Asia. Timothy has driver coached for leading karting teams in South East Asia since 2016 and has won multiple Malaysian Karting Championship titles, including race wins and podiums in the Rotax Asia Max Challenge and Asian Karting Open Championship.

Naquib Azlan is our lead simulator trainer. He has extensive experience in simulator racing and is well-known and respected in his field. He is also a go-kart and circuit car driver.
